Productivity increases as OBS goes mobile with Servitor

Servitor, the housing repairs management system, is a key element of productivity improvements for Oxford Building Solutions (OBS), as part of a modernisation project to deliver better service to its tenants. The software solution combined with improved business processes and mobile imprest stores has allowed OBS to see significant improvements in its operations.

OBS manages the building repairs, refurbishment and caretaking for Oxford City Council’s housing stock of 8,100 properties. OBS introduced Servitor after it identified a need for a new IT management system that could improve productivity by keeping its staff mobile and out of the depot.

Six months on from the introduction of the new system, work is being planned more efficiently with 60% of routine tenant appointments now being scheduled; OBS plans to increase this percentage as the roll out of the mobile application continues.

Martin Young, OBS Systems Manager said “We plan to roll out the handheld computers to all staff working at tenanted properties so that we can maximise the efficiency gains we are seeing; there’s lots more for us to do to gain the full benefit of the changeover.”
