Nov 2002 - Tranman software makes dynamic step into incident management

RAC Software Solutions is taking a dynamic step into incident management with major development underway to support large projects. This will enable the business to operate in a new market.

RAC Software, the fleet and asset management software provider is developing a solution for RACCA (RAC Commercial Vehicle Assistance division) to handle incident management and the deployment of third party engineers.

The software will integrate with call centre telephony equipment to enable efficient communication with customers when reporting incidents. The new Tranman software module will prompt a check whether the vehicle is covered for breakdown assistance, locate the vehicle using mapping software, take the incident details then deploy the closest third party engineer to the incident location.

The new incident management module is based on a model development environment, which has already been used to create the company's spot hire and work authorisation solutions. In concept the software allows the recording of any request whether it be a breakdown, a hire or for work authorisation. These solutions are already proven in the MoD and in the private sector in Jack Allen Ltd.

Tony English, Sales Director at RAC Software says, " The major reason that RACCA chose us as a partner was that we already had 80% of the functionality required in our top level system Tranman Series 9 and have a deep understanding of the commercial vehicle marketplace."

Oct 2002 - Servitor named as preferred system for Kier

Servitor has been selected as the preferred system by Kier in its £640m outsourcing contract to run Sheffield City Council's building and maintenance service.

The Servitor buildings maintenance system will ensure that all tenant repair requests taken through the call centre are recorded and allocated an appropriate resource and convenient appointment time to carry out the repairs for all council buildings and 60,000 council homes.

RAC Software Solutions Director of Servitor, Mike Bailey said, "We are delighted to be an integral part of the UK's largest ever local authority outsourcing contract and look forward to working in partnership with Kier to deliver inspirational service to the tenants of Sheffield City Council."

Sep 2002 - Providing a complete service solution

RAC Software Solutions' Servitor II system provides Housing organisations with the ability to measure tenant satisfaction and deliver a complete service solution. The Housing Corporation and the National Homes Federation have recently emphasised the importance of Tenant Satisfaction in the provision of both social housing and housing repairs.

Mike Bailey, Director of Servitor division agrees," Servitor provides the necessary infrastructure to ensure the requirements of the tenant and therefore the Housing Corporation are not only met but are exceeded."

"Tenant satisfaction is a key performance indicator used by the Housing Corporation Inspectorate, providers of rented accommodation are judged on their ability to provide an acceptable level of service to the tenant and comply with Right to Repair legislation".

Using the following modules Servitor enables Registered Social Landlords to address issues which are key to ensuring tenant satisfaction.

Modules include:
  • Appointments - schedules appointments at the convenience of the tenant rather than the service provider

  • mobileServitor - allocates work to mobile operatives enabling acceptance and amendment of work orders, connected real-time to Servitor appointments facility

  • Resource management - allocates jobs cross-referenced with tradesmen skills certification register. Ensuring the tradesman has the correct skills, materials and tools to remedy the problem

  • Customer/tenant survey - enables evaluation of tenant satisfaction of the service provided to enable resolution of any issues, which do not meet expectations.

Aug 2002 - RAC Software develops interface for mobile engineer deployment

RAC Software Solutions has developed new functionality within its Tranman Series 9 fleet software to provide mobile working capabilities.

The Tranman software can integrate and capture information via handheld devices such as PDA's, in-cab systems, bar code readers or with mobile phones using WAP or SMS technology enabling mobile engineers to create and update records or job cards.

Vehicle defects, fuel transactions, odometer readings and task completion details can be recorded remotely via a PDA and transferred back to the Tranman fleet system located back at the depot.

George Webb, Managing Director of RAC Software Solutions, said: "The advantage of using this technology is instantly capturing data that would normally be entered into the system at a later date. This enables faster response times and improved billing of work".

Jul 2002 - Merseyside Police choose tried and tested Tranman fleet software

Merseyside Police recently chose the Tranman fleet management system from RAC Software Solutions to perform the business operations of its Vehicle Fleet Department. The system was purchased after an evaluation of several applications and was selected, as it was the only product, which met the minimal functional & technical requirements and was at the desired price.

Shaun Aspden, Vehicle Fleet Manager commented on the decision, "We wanted to purchase a tried and tested system; Tranman is the most established name for fleet software in the Police Forces"

The data recorded on the system will enable the force to produce accurate management statistics. Critical date reminders will ensure they run an efficient and effective fleet operation. The workshop module will be used to authorise, order and track repair work at each garage location, providing the ability to compare actual and estimated times and costs, helping to deliver best value.

A total of 20 user licences were purchased to provide access across the four regional workshop locations at Smithdown Lane, Prescott, Maghull and Bromborough.

The Tranman software is a trusted formula amongst Police Force fleets with 65% of the UK forces now using the system from RAC Software Solutions.

Jun 2002 - Servitor wins at Wyre Forest

RAC Software Solutions has won a £100,000 contract to provide Wyre Forest District Council with its new Servitor II building maintenance management software to manage the operations of its Cultural, Leisure & Commercial Services division.

Steve Ogram, Accountant and Business Support Manager for the Cultural, Leisure and Commercial Services Division of the Council, said the software would also enable the department to analyse the costs of the services it provides to ensure best value.

"The software was installed and live within three months of awarding the contract. This was a tremendous achievement and was only made possible through the commitment and teamwork of everyone involved both within Wyre Forest and RAC Software Solutions," he said.

"I look forward to building on this good working relationship as we continue to develop our use of the system in the future."

The second phase will be deployed in Germany for the 1st Armoured Division on their return from the Oman. A potential third phase would be the implementation into the newly formed Rapid Reaction Force, this would effectively mean the software would be utilised by 50% of the British Army.
