Dec 00 - Thames Water are flowing within 2 weeks

In May this year Thames Water purchased a 12 user Tranman system for their Fleet Administration department in Reading to manage the maintenance of the company's 2000 vehicles and plant items. The installation was carried out towards the end of May and within two weeks they were running live with the vehicle asset register and work authorisation. By the beginning of July the users were also processing fuel and running a maintenance schedule.

After looking around the market place at Fleet Management systems Thames Water selected the Tranman software over the major competitors. The project had three main requirements, which were for the system to have a Vehicle Asset Register, to be able to do Work Authorisation and Maintenance Scheduling. They ordered some bespoke work, for the Tranman system to generate service reminders, allocate them to the member of staff responsible for that group of vehicles and to email them to their internal departments.

Wendy Spencer, Project Manager at Tranman Solutions says, "I would like to extend my warm thanks to the Thames Water staff for their enthusiasm and hard work which contributed greatly to the swift and satisfactory implementation of the system".

Nov 00 - Pretoria City Council

Tranman Solutions' reputation of providing winning fleet solutions to the Public Sector has spread as far as South Africa; the company successfully signed a contract for the provision of fleet management software to Pretoria Council earlier this year. Tranman Solutions Ltd and TransIT (the distributor for Tranman products in Southern Africa) are working together to provide a software solution intended to meet the City Council's operational requirements for the coming years. The involvement of the consulting firm Booz•Allen and Hamilton has provided a solid business partner for Tranman and TransIT in assisting all parties towards achieving these aims.

Following the initial installation in July, the project has progressed significantly, with fleet administration, acquisitions and accidents modules running live after recent acceptance by the council. This already involves approximately 40 users controlling over 10,000 vehicles and assets. The subsequent rollout of the workshops and stores modules across the Council's twelve workshops, intended for early in the New Year, will result in Tranman being utilised by in excess of ninety users across the city.

The South African Municipalities look to the UK as an international example of best practice and TMS's track record of success within the UK local authority market place put us in a strong position to win the business against local competition.

South African Broadcasting Corporation
The South African Broadcasting Corporation has also purchased a fleet management system. The Tranman 'FM2000' system is currently running their fleet of 110 vehicles at their Johannesburg base. The users have received the package well due to the ease of use. This was reflected in the simplicity with which the users have been able to transfer their job roles to the new system with little disruption.

David Cleverly from TMS has been seconded to our Distributor TransIT in South Africa for a period of 12 months to work as Business Development Manager. More significant wins are expected before the end of the financial year.

Nov 00 - contract win to supply fleet software to Wincanton Logistics

Wincanton Logistics have been working with the Woolworths retail group for around five years since they won the contract for distribution. The contract includes collecting and delivering goods from suppliers to stores all over the UK. To enable Wincanton to run this operation more efficiently they decided to invest in a number of automated systems.

Tranman Solutions (TMS) were approached for their Tranman Prodigy system for large mixed fleets and consequently won the contract. The Wincanton fleet consists of approximately 500 units with increased numbers over the Christmas period. The Tranman Prodigy system has to integrate with at least 6 other systems to ensure the smooth running of the Woolworth's contract.

Tranman Prodigy has to create trip sheets based on information on the routed jobs for that day received from a network planning system, the jobs are then allocated to a driver and the deliveries are recorded. The system receives information from radio sensors on depot gates and from in-cab systems to record actual collection and delivery times, these are then measured against scheduled times. Tranman Prodigy also produces a html Fleet Positions report, displayed on the company's intranet to periodically state where the vehicles are on their trip sheet.

On a daily basis, drivers report any vehicle defects. The maintenance work is scheduled and administered using Tranman Prodigy, which interfaces with Wincanton's financial package.

Tranman Prodigy can provide the management team with reports of driver performance and errors, fuel performance and period costs, enabling them to measure exactly how the contract is progressing. A large amount of bespoke development work was undertaken by the team at TMS's Birmingham office, due to the complex interfaces required for the many systems involved, and was delivered on time.

This extensive project will act as a blueprint to allow Wincanton to meet the growing demands of their customers and win future contracts.

Jun 00 - Tranman extends business partnerships with the MOD - British Navy

Apr 00 - Rapid FM voted ‘Our Choice’ by Fleet Car Business

Rapid FM has recently been voted ‘Our Choice’ Fleet Management Software by Emap Automotive's Fleet Car Business magazine.

Fleet Car Business Verdict - "Excellent value, uncomplicated, and well suited to the small fleet operator. The package has been specifically designed for smaller fleets and this shines through, it’s simple to use and not packed with hundreds of functions you’ll never use.".

In second place was Car Fleet Control, their package was thought to be "not cheap, other packages, such as Tranman Rapid FM provide more features for less money."

Mar 00 - Fleet Manager of the Year, Richard Flint tells us about his Tranman system (voted by Fleet News)

Durham Police purchased the Tranman Fleet Management system after a review of their fleet management systems during 1996. Their full system went live on 1st April 1997. There are currently 11 users of the windows based version of the software. All of the users are based at the main workshop at Police Headquarters, Durham and there is only one satellite workshop. Before the system was purchased the project team visited not only other Police Forces using various systems but also private companies. The outcome of the review project was that the Tranman System would operate most effectively for their needs. One of the driving forces behind purchasing a sophisticated fleet management system was that Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Constabulary, H.I.M.C were putting together a standard costing system so that Police vehicles could be benchmarked right across all UK Forces.

Richard Flint, Vehicle Fleet Controller, Durham Police said, "We have had the Tranman system fully operational now for over two years and I am more than happy with the results we are getting from the information we have put into this system. The full potential of Tranman has not yet been realised and we hope to compliment the system in the future with the use of the new Crystal Reports Software. This will enable us to give more accurate and more well presented reports to vehicle users."

The system covers all areas of the Fleet including operating costs, accident management, stores, workshops performance and control, vehicle allocation and utilisation, fuel management, vehicle purchases, vehicle hire, purchase order processing and invoice processing. It can be appreciated that confidentiality and security was high on Durham’s requirements and therefore the system restricts access to individuals on a coded access level. These access levels can be audited at any time.

Durham’s system is supported through the use of a modem link up with Tranman’s head office in Bristol. Richard Flint, Vehicle Fleet Controller said, "The use of the modem link up allows us at any point in time to liase with the Bristol helpdesk and alleviate any problems that might arise with the system or changes that might be required with the set up of the system."

Jan 00 - Lex takes stake in Tranman Solutions Ltd

TRANMAN Solutions Ltd has enjoyed substantial growth since the Management Buy-Out of the business in February 1997. In order to move to the next level of expansion and to secure the long term best interests of its' staff and customers, the management of Tranman have entered into a joint venture with Lex Service PLC which has taken a significant equity stake in the business. This move will provide greater financial stability, access to new markets and the resources to grow the Company as we enter the new Millennium.

TRANMAN Solutions will continue to be run as an independent organisation protecting the best interests of its' clients and assisting them in maintaining the competitive advantage our products and services provide. We will work closely with companies within the Business Services division of Lex, which enjoys market leadership in the automotive services market and recently expanded its motoring services portfolio with the acquisition of the RAC.

There will be no changes in the staff, management team, office locations, trading name or contractual conditions with customers. Staff and management will retain a large proportion of shares, and any further share transfers are conditional on the Company's financial performance.

Benefits of the Business Alliance with Lex
TRANMAN Solutions (TMS) have developed a fantastic reputation for the delivery of Quality solutions to the British Army. Further substantial opportunities exist within the Defence market, the scale of which require TMS to be backed by a substantial organisation.

Defence is a strategic business area for Lex Service. The ability to deliver IT Solutions via TMS is designed to add value to Lex bids and deliver business benefit to mutual clients.

TMS have developed a range of entry level software products, which since their launch at the Fleet Show 1999 have attracted approaching 100 users. These are low price, volume sale products predominantly aimed at car and small mixed fleets. A significant opportunity exists to re-badge these products for the RAC and other Lex Divisions, allowing much greater exposure to the market and again adding value to Lex Service bids.

Lex Service has many Divisions running a diverse range of IT Solutions for Fleet Management. TMS are well positioned to take advantage of this large internal market.

TMS wish to enhance their position as a leader in Fleet Software and Service Provision. The level of investment required to keep at the front of the pack is substantial e.g. major projects are currently underway regarding Web enablement and E-commerce. It is TMS's strategy to develop a very large user base through sales wins and acquisitions, thus justifying significant product development to the benefit of all clients. The Alliance with Lex gives TMS access to a greater market which will increase sales successes and the financial strength to make synergetic acquisitions.

TMS wish to attract international distributors of a substantial stature, such organisations tend to partner with companies of a similar scale.
Lex Alliance - Positioning Statement
The Alliance with Lex Service Plc is complementary to our business interests and that of our clients. Lex want the TRANMAN brand to be recognised as the leader in fleet software provision and for TMS to work with the entire market, including and especially companies who on occasions compete with one of the Lex divisions.
Relationships with clients will be kept confidential and TMS is to be an independent Service provided to the market, the same can be said of the RAC who Lex acquired during 1999.

TMS see no conflict in providing solutions, which enable its clients to run efficient well-managed fleets where costs are accurately monitored and workshop or provision services are recharged, while other divisions of Lex provide solution for organisations wishing to outsource such services typically because they consider them non-core activities or can not successfully manage or measure the cost.
