Dec 99 - Tranman Solutions awarded largest ever contract - The British Army

TRANMAN Solutions Ltd have been awarded a contract for the provision of a Motor Transport System (MTSYS) to address the 'Transport Requests' requirements of the British Army. The new system will be rolled out to 3000 users world-wide located in more than 300 units.

TRANMAN will be providing a customised solution to support the scheduling of resources to meet 'Transport Requests' to move personnel or material. The system will be responsible for the tasking of 35,000 Green Fleet vehicles ranging from cars, vans, lorries and coaches to fire fighting equipment, motorbikes and skidoos. User defined entry criteria allows users to enter the system and place a request for one or many types of transport into the system. A transport availability screen allows an overview of the number, type, location and status of available vehicles as well as a drill down function that allows users to receive information relating to the vehicle in question.

The project is being managed from the company's Birmingham office, where work is proceeding to plan. Standard software has already been installed to enable familiarisation and the customised modules were delivered on schedule at the end of November 1999.

The contract is believed to be the largest awarded to a Fleet Management Software company. Project costs are estimated at more than £5 million and TRANMAN Solutions will play a significant role in delivering the business benefit to justify the investment.

George Webb, Managing director of TRANMAN Solutions says, "The Army brief was to find the best 'Commercial off the shelf' fleet system from a supplier providing the correct technology platform and a track record of being able to deliver customised solutions 'on-time and with quality'. The fact that they chose TRANMAN Solutions as their business partner is an honour we take very seriously".

TRANMAN feel they were assisted in winning the contract by the excellent reputation they have built up in the provision of public sector systems over the last 10 years. They are the undisputed market leaders in the provision of new fleet systems to Defence, Emergency services and Local Government.
